- Lesson scheduling: private lessons are given once a week in 30, 45 and 60 mins length. Individual lessons are designed to meet the needs of each student. Lessons will focus on developing technique, theory and creative skills.
- Practice: regular home practice is essential for student success. Ideally, students should aim for at least 5 days of practice each week. Short, daily practice sessions are more effective and productive than one or two long sections per week. The most important time for students to practice is right after their weekly lesson, to solidify what they have just learned. Some studies suggest that humans forget approx 50% of new information within an hour of learning it. That goes up to an average of 70% within 24 hours. It is not a good idea to practice until the end of the week. Parental involvement can be crucial to student success and can significantly benefit teachers and the quality of piano learning. Please help your students to establish and stick to a practice routine, and see that practice time is free of distractions. If you are the parent of an elementary age student, please plan to sit with your child for at least a portion of their daily practice time.
- Attendance: students are expected to attend weekly lessons regularly. Too many missed lessons or absences may result in lesson termination.
- Cancellation and make-up lesson: Students are required to notify the teacher 24 hours if unable to attend a lesson. We offer make-up lessons for missed or canceled lessons. No make-up lessons or refund will be given if the lessons are missed or canceled without 24 hours notice. If the students arrive late, the teacher will not be able to make-up for the lost time. If the teacher is late, a makeup time will be given. If the student is unable to attend a lesson due to an emergency or illness, kindly reach out to me as early as feasible. If the lessons missed by the teacher, a makeup credit or tuition deduction will be given.
- Payment: Monthly tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. If you enroll in mid-month, your tuition will be prorated for that month only. Monthly payment based on the weeks, 4 to 5 lessons depending on the number of weeks in the month. We accept Paypal, Zelle, check, Venmo and cash.
- Use of photographs and videos: we are hereby granted permission to take photographs and videos of lessons, performances and other events for promotional use online, poster and advertisements. Children’s names will not be included in any captions. Please let us know if you would like us not to use any photographs or videos of yourself.
