Biography

Hewen Pan is a classical pianist from San Francisco Bay Area. Teacher Hewen started playing piano from the age of six and continued throughout her youth. She began her teaching in her native China while still in college and has continued developing her passion for education in the United States. After moving to the United States, Hewen was accepted to San Francisco State University where she did her undergraduate studies and Master degree with internationally acclaimed concert pianist Roger Woodward and distinguished piano soloist Victoria Neve, and earned her degrees in piano performance. Other important teachers and mentors include Congcong Chai, Alexander String Quartet, Asaf Kleinman, Massimiliano Ferrati, and Dr. Scott McBride Smith. Hewen has won the MTAC SF Branch Pedagogy Awards (2017-2018), and James Ramos International Piano Competition (2019).

After graduation, Hewen began teaching piano to students of all ages and levels. She quickly established herself as a patient and dedicated teacher, who could create customized lesson plans to suit each student’s needs and learning style. Hewen loved teaching piano, and she believed that everyone had the potential to become a great pianist.

Hewen also continued to perform as a pianist, both as a soloist and in ensembles. Her performances have been praised for their technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth. She has played in various concerts and festivals, and has collaborated with other musicians and artists to create unique and memorable performances.

Today, Hewen continues to teach piano to students of all ages, sharing her passion for music with a new generation of students. Her dedication to teaching and her ability to build strong relationships with her students are a testament to the power of music to bring people together and inspire creativity and personal growth.
